It all started when...

I visited Caracol, Haiti with Strongtower Orphanage Ministry to teach VBS to the village children in 2013. Pastor Payot was such a genuine Christian leader standing in the gap for his people that I wanted to go again. I felt moved to tears by God to do something to empower the women to care for their children and themselves. I like to sew and quilt and Pastor Payot asked me in August of 2016 if I would teach the high school girls to sew so they can find work. Since a t-shirt factory was established there in 2013 the community enjoys 24/7 electricity. Therefore we decided to start with electric sewing machines instead of treadle (which many women use in the mountains). We made our first trip in March of 2017 and I met with Pastor Payot and the principal of the high school to learn about each other and why we were there.  I envisioned a small cottage industry, the principal just wanted the girls to learn to sew their own uniforms, and Pastor Payot had a bigger vision. He would very much like this first effort to result in the building of a trade school to train both boys and girls in a skill that will enable them to find work. That has translated into a larger vision for me and I feel blessed to be a part of it. We hope you will be moved to help us achieve this vision.
